\nFor any company with an online presence, search engine optimization, or SEO, is key. We all know this. However, how to make sure you website is found by search engines for the keywords you want to be found with is certainly the tricky part.<\/p>\n

You will spend a lot of time figuring out your keywords and then focusing on them to ensure your website shows up when a user enters those specific words in a search engine. That said, if you are about to spend months focusing on words that you hope will bring you traffic, you have to ask yourself beforehand if you are targeting the right keywords.<\/p>\n

After a few months of trial and error this is a question all companies eventually ask themselves.<\/p>\n

The answer to this question is found within the research you do. When selecting your keywords the best practice is to first identify your niche keywords.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re not familiar with Niche Keywords, these are specific long-tail keywords<\/strong> that pertain to the key factors of your business.\u00a0\u00a0 Finding these niche keywords, <\/strong>can be very difficult and frustrating for the novice marketer, or someone new to the industry. Don\u2019t panic, there are plenty of tools out there that can help you find the keywords you\u2019re searching for.<\/p>\n

One of the easiest tools for someone just starting out is the Google Keyword Planner<\/a>. The Planner is intended for PPC use, however this same tool can give you a volume look at who\u2019s searching for what, and more importantly it can also give you suggested keyword phrases based on the words you type in. Look at the volume of the keyword. The average monthly search volume and the competition level for the various keywords are two important metrics to look at as well.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re just starting off, you want to try and target keyword phrases that have a large monthly search volume, but have a medium to low competition level. This will make life a little easier for you to compete in the search market with competitors who might already be in your niche. You will maximize your exposure on these keywords and gain authority in your niche. As you create new pages on your site you can then grow your niche keywords<\/strong>, and expand your reach to a wider search market.<\/p>\n
